If a business has a site for you to apply online, then that's probably the way to go. If they really are looking, they'll call you back. I applied online, and i got called back in under a week.

Sounds like they are recognizing your name now, and perhaps this is the letter they send to those who show an interst in working for the company.
Or they could have recently changed the form letter for applicants.
